In the late 70’s I was working towards a Master’s at the University of Toledo. I was using the 40-inch reflector telescope to do a spectroscopic survey of F type stars looking for spectroscopic multiple star systems. This was an extension of my primary task of studying a spectroscopic triple star. One night after pointing the telescope at my next candidate I looked through the guide scope and saw the prettiest pair of stars I had ever seen. One was emerald green and the other was ruby red. I had never before seen stars in color. They had always been just white.
